Rationale

The Southeast Asian Young Astronomers Collaboration (SEAYAC) will be having the 1st Southeast Asian Young Astronomers Meeting from November 5-9, 2012 at the Legend Hotel, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Philippines. The aim of the meeting is to provide a venue for young astronomers and astronomy students to present their current researches and interact with colleagues from other countries. This is to strengthen collaborations not only between different institutions but also break the cultural barriers between different countries.

In addition, it is a venue to learn the latest in Southeast Asian astronomy and identify future areas of development. The Meeting will also be a venue for interaction with senior astronomers who will be delivering lectures on cutting edge research areas and developments in various field of astronomy. It is the aim of the SEAYAC Meeting to strengthen the regional identity of Southeast Asia in light of the International Astronomical Union Decadal Strategic Plan for Astronomy Development
